Die Repair Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

• The Aluminum Extrusion Die Repair Technician is responsible for prepping, polishing, repairing, and maintaining extrusion dies to ensure they meet company specifications and production quality standards. This role directly supports extrusion operations by keeping dies in reliable working condition, helping ensure consistent performance while minimizing downtime and scrap.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prep, polish, and repair extrusion dies according to company specifications and standard work instructions.

• Ensure proper adherence to die repair procedures and quality standards.

• Complete required documentation related to die repairs, corrections, and production quality checks.

• Assist in performing extrusion quality checks to maintain consistent product excellence.

• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance die performance, control scrap levels and reduce waste.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and related departments to address production challenges and ensure efficient workflow.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Basic math skills, blueprint reading, and computer skills.

• Proven experience in extrusion operations, die repair, tool & die work, or related manufacturing experience.

• Ability to write reports, document production metrics, and communicate effectively with team members.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply logical thinking to carry out instructions in various formats.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team in a fast-paced environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipment.

• Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and proper footwear.
